The Legian Seminyak AND BALI CHILDREN FOUNDATION

Now that Bali has opened up again and is growing economically strong, we are thinking about our neighbours in the East, particularly Lombok who have been negatively impacted for four years since the earthquake.

The Legian, Seminyak has a sister hotel at Sire Bay, North Lombok. There are five Bali Children Foundation projects in this area.

The impoverished people on the mainland and on the Gili Islands have the potential to be employed in the tourism industry. However, their lack of education, literacy and spoken English means that they are not engaged in formal employment activities, instead working as boatmen or porters.

Remedial Literacy and Numeracy classes and English as a Foreign Language lessons are repairing Lombok children's education losses, and providing them with skills for future employment. Today’s event is supporting this work.
