STEM to STEAM-H to Foster Students' Awareness of Sustainability with Art and Humanity

It is essential for children to have an awareness of their surroundings, including the problems in their community, and problem-solving skills. We wanted to encourage that to our students through readings, research, and experiments to explore sustainable solutions in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) classes.

Bali Children Foundation curriculum considers environmentally friendly sustainable solutions to many community challenges, including waste management, agriculture, sustainable energy, and IT for grade 4 to 6 students in 9 schools across Bali.

Updating STEM to STEAM-H by adding Art and Humanities to the curriculum is part of our method to always adapt to our community. Art and humanities have been a huge part of Balinese people’s way of life. Thus, they must also be included in the toolset to solve the issues around them.
