During July and August, we were over on Lombok and the neighbouring Gili Islands working closely with the local government and education department.

We are currently implementing the Bali Children Foundation English and Environmental programs in 7 schools covering grade 2 to Year 12.

The current program is provided for 1,300 children. We’ve developed this curriculum to prepare the children for careers in the fast-growing tourism and the hospitality industry on the Islands. We believe that the work being undertaken right now will have a profound effect for years to come – taking the children from their current circumstances to a better place.

Each of these communities suffered dreadful impact from last year’s earthquake and many of the schools still look like a warzone.

We’ve helped to make the schools safe again and implemented BCF education. Temporary classrooms have been built and we saw children fill these spaces, smiling and excited at the prospect of learning English through the Bali Children Foundation program.

  • We acknowledged the support of local businesses who gave back tirelessly.
  • We built new friendships with local leaders.
  • We made plans.
  • We gained momentum.
  • We put education first.
